Building Faith Hand in Hand
Dear Parishioner,
These are exciting times at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Community! More and more families are choosing to help make our new church building a reality. We are getting closer to realizing our dream of uniting our parish on one campus in the center of town next to Our Lady of Fatima School on Palmer Highway.
The campaign process was started in April 2005 when Archbishop Fiorenza approved our request to begin the Master Plan process. We have progressed to the point where we have now organized the “Equal Sacrifice Committee” to visit with those who have not yet decided on their pledge. Our goal is to have 100% participation! We want to make sure that every family has the opportunity to participate. This committee also plans to visit with those who have already made their pledge to thank them and to tell them about naming opportunities that are now available.
Enclosed you will find a message, “Equal Sacrifice”, written by Charles T. Doyle. In his message, Chuck describes giving as a ‘Spiritual Matter’ .... something we each can do to actually advance God’s Kingdom in Texas City for our children’s children and for generations to follow.” Chuck goes on to explain that he feels that he and his wife fell short of sacrificial giving when they first decided on the amount of their pledge. They have now made a new pledge... a sacrificial pledge.
Much of who we are today as a parish community is a result of the faith and sacrificial giving of many, many families that have worshipped at our parish throughout our 95-year history. As we approach 100 years as a parish and as a city, we are blessed with an incredible opportunity of a lifetime... building a new church. We want everyone to share in the joy of knowing that they made the sacrifice needed to lay the foundation of the Catholic church in Texas City that will stand for generations to come. Don’t be left out!
Our Book of Memories will list every family that makes a pledge. Each family will be remembered in prayer at each daily Mass in our new church. Be a part of this incredible opportunity of a lifetime. Expect a phone call from the “Equal Sacrifice Committee” to schedule a visit with you. Now is the time for us to work together, build together and sacrifice together. Together we can make our dream a reality.
Your brother in Christ,
Fr. Tom
